Cheryl Levett – Plumstead

I am standing for election as a Councillor for the Plumstead Ward because I have lived in Plumstead for over 40 years, am a long term ratepayer, and am interested in the economical expenditure of the Council Tax.

Having also received my primary, secondary and tertiary education in Plumstead and Woolwich, it can be seen that I am very much of the area. I have observed many progressive changes, in Woolwich and Greenwich, but not much in Plumstead. I believe it is time to bring focus onto Plumstead and the needs and wants of its residents, with their involvement in decision making.

Of particular concern to me is the unclean look of the streets, fly tipping, the run down look of the High Street, and the reduction of amenities, such as is happening with Plumstead Library and the Leisure Centre. The number of betting shops in the Lakedale Road area is also of concern to me. I would also like to be able to walk in the streets and open spaces, at whatever time of day or night, and not have to be nervous about my safety.

There is much potential in Plumstead, and it’s residents, and I believe that we deserve better.
